Transporting Accommodation

Transportable buildings are ideal for semi-permanent construction. A transportable building commonly called a demountable in Australia is a building designed and built to be movable rather than permanently located. If you are a product of the Western Australia school system you will probably remember demountables from your schooling days. It is still quite common to see trucks driving up and down the Tonkin Highway with demountables onboard.
You will also see these trucks transporting accommodaition units, more commonly known as Dongas on the Kenwick Link, just off Boydell Rd, Kenwick. This familiar type of portable buildings is designed so that one can be carried to or from site on a truck and be lifted into place by a crane.
